Trauma changes the way your brain and body respond to safety cues. The right therapy can re-wire that response. Our trauma team is EMDRIA-trained and uses approaches that don't require you to narrate the trauma in detail. We move at the pace your nervous system can tolerate, with stabilization built in from session one.
This may be a good fit if…
- ✓Single-incident trauma — assault, accident, medical event, loss
- ✓Complex / developmental trauma from childhood
- ✓Combat or first-responder PTSD
- ✓Birth trauma, medical PTSD, or post-surgical distress
- ✓Religious, cultural, or identity-based trauma
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
The most-researched trauma treatment available. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess stuck memories so they lose their charge. You don't have to describe the trauma in detail. Available in-person and via telehealth — we also host free bilateral stimulation tools for between-session use.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Trauma often leaves behind protective ‘parts’ — the inner critic, the people-pleaser, the numbed-out part. IFS helps you meet each part with compassion, understand its job, and update its role. Particularly powerful for complex and developmental trauma.
Somatic & Polyvagal Approaches
Trauma lives in the body as much as the mind. We integrate somatic tracking, polyvagal-informed breathwork, and titration so your nervous system learns it's safe to come out of fight/flight/freeze.
Phase-Based Care
We follow the standard three-phase model: (1) stabilization and resourcing, (2) processing, (3) integration. You always have a foot on the brake. We don't push past your window of tolerance.
The Polyvagal Ladder
Trauma can lock the nervous system on a lower rung. Therapy teaches it the way back up.
Ventral Vagal
Safe & social
Sympathetic
Fight or flight — mobilized
Dorsal Vagal
Shutdown, freeze, collapse
The IFS Model — Self at the Center
Every protective part is doing a job. The Self can lead them all with curiosity and compassion.
Managers
Plan, control, prevent pain
Firefighters
Distract from pain when it breaks through
Exiles
Carry the original wound
